Hi! I’m Joyce Amsden.
A little bit about me…
I am a photographer, carpenter, and writer. I am Mom to three sons, two daughters and Nana to five adorable little grandkids.
I grew up on a tiny farm in Sharon, VT. I am the 10th of 11 children. After high school, I attended The University of Vermont and settled in the Burlington area.
As my children fledged, my parents aged, and my father passed away, I moved back to the family homestead to help my mom. Despite its many blessings, living with and care giving for my mother had its challenges and I ultimately found my way to the open arms of the Caregiver’s Support Group at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center’s Aging Resource Center. I have retained a great affection for the work they do there and for the wonderful, open-hearted staff.
Recently, I was offered the opportunity to display my photography on their walls. My photos are available for purchase there until mid March, as well as through this website.

hi joyce,
this is katharina. we met you and your gf in SoRo when we arrived in our 54 chevy (Blue Betty) and our 52 chevy truck (Agnieszka). I just checked out your website and wanted to tell you how touched I was by your story. I’ve been a hospice volunteer caregiver for the past 4 years and have worked with seniors for 3 years. I find it such a blessing to be around elderly people, their wisdom and their humor. Your place sounds lovely. My husband is currently working on re-errecting a 1780’s barn frame that came out of NH, here in VT. Hopefully we’ll be able to move in before the winter comes. Love your photos, too. My photo website is currently a work in progress.
